Ancientways Shamanic Training and Healing Seek not to follow in the footsteps of the Ancients... Seek instead what they sought. Intensive Mentorship Application Review
Section I Please share your name, telephone, email contact information… In what state/country do you live? Have you signed up for the free online class? Are you comfortable with this overall approach to Journeying? Please take a few minutes to describe yourself as a person. Be as detailed as you like. Do you have a digital picture of yourself that you are able to send along? What do you think Chris Davidson would be especially interested in knowing about you? Are you on any medication for bipolar, depression or the like?
Section II Please take a few minutes to describe why you feel drawn to shamanism… Describe your current relationship with your Spirit Helpers…. What role does Shamanic Journeying play in your life? Does it seem possible or likely for you to be able to do these: Write up detailed notes after each mentorship session and keep them in a binder for reflection and review. Keep solo time (when not meeting in session) reserved for formal Journeying. Write up notes of the solo time and add them to the binder for reflection and review and also email the notes to Chris Davidson. Read through previous Journey and session notes routinely in order to better digest and integrate what has been shared. Spend ongoing time with your Spirit Helpers, whether formally or informally. Daily is best (fifteen minutes or so). Do you currently have a routine spiritual practice? What is your spiritual/religious upbringing, if any? Have you found aspects of it useful and supportive? What would be the outcome you’re hoping for as a result of this mentorship? Please take a few minutes to read through the last two sections of this application. Does this bring up any questions you’d like to share? Are you already familiar with basic ethics (such as confidentiality) of working with people on a formal basis? Is there anything else you’d like to share?
Section III Reading Only About the Mentorship Process Session times are kept as consistently as possible. There is a rhythm to this work and the Helpers will often build on teachings within that rhythm. We meet at regular times (sessions can be arranged Tues-Fri days and evenings). Weeks we do not meet are reserved for you to deepen your connection with your Spirit Helpers through formal independent practice. If you need to rearrange session times for traveling, etc. it is usually not a problem. However, since consistency is important it’s best to try to keep to schedule whenever possible. There is no standard formula to prepare for a session. It is important, however, to review your notes from the previous session and/or Journey since the Helpers often want to build on each experience. Take at least 15 minutes away from duties and “multi-tasking” to relax and shift gears before we meet. Otherwise part of the session time will need to be spent helping you make that shift. Sessions will normally last around an hour. We usually begin with a quick review of the previous session and/or Journey. It is a good idea to reserve an hour and half total so that you have time to reflect, integrate, and fill out notes afterward. After each session you’ll write up notes of the session and email to me. This is important for self-clarifying and also deeper integration of what has been shared. It’s also helpful for me to see what stood out for you during the session and notice if there have been any confusions. Try not to preoccupy yourself with writing down detailed notes during the session time itself. Too much note-taking will distract you and the Helpers may have to wait for you to be present enough to integrate an insight fully before moving on. It’s best to write just a few highlights or headlines during the session and plan to spend time right afterward filling in specifics while the experience is still fresh. If you wait, you’ll likely lose much of the insight. To reach me for any reason please call 303-642-1460. You are also welcome to email but remember sometimes the mountain internet is “off line.” A quality headset is needed – one that has adequate sound and will be steady when you lie down for a facilitated Shamanic Journey. Many headsets don't carry voice audio well. The Plantronics M175 headset is recommended. Please do not use speaker phones or Blue Tooth type phones, thank you.
Section IV Reading Only Operating Powerfully in the Spirit Realm Spiritual power is not a formula. It is not even metaphysical. Spiritual power is born of Living Spirit and operates on spiritual principles – principles that transcend the natural realm and the natural person. It’s good to ponder what we consider to be spiritual power. Metaphysical gifts, although useful, are not. They are talents (for example, as is writing poetry) that have been refined. Metaphysics is about something you’re doing, while spirituality is about who you are being. True spiritual power isn’t reading minds or predicting the future – although these can be useful. Spiritual power is the ability to be kind to someone who is irritating. It’s acknowledging our own flaws and faults honestly. It includes a wholesome, unforced compassion for self and others that cannot be acquired other than through direct communion with Living Spirit. If we want to be supernatural, then Spirit must be able to interact with us. Complex meditations, mystical adventures, or advanced teachings are not essential for this. Time, however, is. Think of it as a “date.” A daily one. When we consistently set aside time to invite Spirit’s presence, our desire for this will be honored. Our Spirit Helpers are ambassadors of the Living Spirit. They radiate the presence, wisdom, perspective, support and care of the Living Spirit to us. They honor Living Spirit by assisting us on our earthwalk. Spending time with our Helpers through Journeying is important. However, it is not exactly the same as spending time directly with Spirit (a form of prayer). Moving from interaction with Living Spirit into action on behalf of Living Spirit is a natural progression. It often begins with a sense of urgency to pray blessings (in whatever form) for those we care about. As this becomes part of our daily life, other things begin to happen. A wiser perspective about others emerges. We no longer wander in the wilderness of reactions and personal judgments. We see people more as Spirit sees them. And this becomes a rare gift of insight, support, and genuine understanding. True power in the spirit realm is a direct result of allowing our character to be refined. The more our character resonates with Spirit, the better emissaries we will be – the “hollow bone” many native peoples speak about. And we also become more fully who we were created to be. Allowing Spirit to radiate through our actions and character requires much more power and courage than the simple ability to engage good energies. It can be problematic to crave spiritual gifts and accomplishments. These will certainly come. But first we must crave intimacy with Living Spirit. Without this as a foundation, we can move into activities that seem very useful but our old (often shoddy) personality and character remain intact. That’s why many people who appear so gifted can have questionable - sometimes even abusive - attitudes towards others. As the first century sage said, “What if I could speak all languages of humans and of angels? What if I could prophesy and understand all secrets and all knowledge? I would be nothing unless I loved others.” This is true spiritual power.
Section V Reading Only Dedication Prayer Mother and Father Spirit, you have requested that I be in service to you. Thank you for honoring me with this request.
I know that the responsibility for sacred service is not mine, but yours. My role is to present a fit container, a "hollow bone" for the work that you choose to do through me.
I know my own talent is not up to the demands of this work. That my own skills and wisdom are not why you have chosen me. You have chosen me because of my willingness to listen to you and to be guided by your loving plans. This is my qualification, and I ask that I always remember.
Help me honor you in my life and work, and to keep this focus steady and unbroken while I live.
Give me sharp eyes to detect the presence of falsehood. Provide me with understanding to see clearly. Give me the courage to share your Wisdom steadily. Make my voice so similar to yours that those who are in need of your help can recognize it.
I come to you now for spiritual preparation. Bless me with your presence, your power, and your love. Remind me that I am in service to you - and although this includes helping people with loving care, that I am moved and guided by your wisdom rather than by the needs, desires, or expectations of others.
If it be so, I accept hard work and small rewards in this task. Heal me from personal ambition. Save me from becoming pious or egotistical or false in anyway. Keep me true in my heart’s loyalty to you first and the preoccupation and demands of this work second. Help me not measure my value by the extent of my popularity or the size of my income. Mother and Father Spirit, let me see through your eyes only and not through the eyes of others. Let me never become a slave to crowds. Teach me self-discipline and how to focus on your priorities rather than on others' or mine. If you honor me with miracles, let me never forget that I have all the natural faults of humankind, and that miracles are your doing and not mine. Save me from the damage I may do to myself by trying too hard to be a blessing to others. Fill me with your power, so that I move forward in your strength. I dedicate my remaining days upon this earth to you. Let them be as many or as few as you choose. Let me be a helper to those you wish, whether rich or poor, accomplished or struggling. I am here to do your loving purpose. This means more to me than position, riches, or fame. And I choose this above all things in earth or in heaven.

About Distance Shamanic Sessions: There is no loss of energetic support and presence through distance shamanic sessions. In fact there is often a deeper connection. This is because interaction by voice and energy is often stronger without the distraction of the physical. It is important to have privacy for your session and to schedule at least 15 minutes to relax and prepare. A time for integration afterward is also important. A quality telephone headset is a very good idea but not crucial for single sessions or short series. Please note that ear buds (without mouth microphone) as well as speaker telephones do not carry the energetic qualities needed for this work. After you've explored the different information and associated costs on the website you're welcome to schedule a 15-minute telephone conversation with Chris Davidson to see if this work feels right for you (please note that this cannot be a shamanic session, which requires formal preparation).
